The Octagon ShelfShade™ is designed for in-pool tanning ledges, swimming pool baja shelves, and shallow water lounge areas. It brings shade, comfort, and resort-style living directly into the pool.

Engineered with a 2-piece, 108" extended pole, this umbrella is specifically designed for in-ground pool sleeve installations where extra height matters. At 108" tall, it provides at least 6" more usable headroom than many competing in-pool umbrellas that are 102" or shorter — that additional height creates more comfortable clearance beneath the canopy, helping reduce the chance of bumping your head and making it easier to get in and out of your pool chairs without ducking or crouching.

Unlike standard umbrellas designed primarily for freestanding patio use, the Octagon ShelfShade™ is intentionally taller to accommodate the unique requirements of a tanning ledge installation. Once the pole is inserted into the pool's built-in sleeve, the added elevation helps keep the canopy comfortably above seated or reclining users while preserving valuable walking and entry space beneath the umbrella.

Its overall height is comparable to bar or counter-height shade systems used in outdoor kitchens and grilling islands, making it especially well-suited for sun shelf sleeve installations where standard umbrella heights can feel restrictive.

Built for Everyday Ease of Use

A smooth crank system opens and closes the canopy with ease. Once open, a simple push-button tilt lets you angle the canopy to follow the sun throughout the day — just press to tilt, and press again to return it upright, no manual cranking required to adjust the angle.

A single wind vent improves airflow and helps with stability in normal residential conditions.

For higher wind areas, a double vent option is available. This allows wind to pass through the canopy instead of building underneath it.

Upgrade to the Double Vent Canopy

If your pool is located in a breezy area, the optional Double Vent Canopy is a worthwhile upgrade. By allowing more air to flow through the umbrella, it reduces wind pressure on the frame and canopy. This helps improve stability during everyday breezes, reduces stress on the umbrella's components, and can contribute to a longer service life.

We especially recommend the Double Vent Canopy for homes near the coast, on lakes, in open backyards, on rooftops, or in other locations where gusty winds are common.

Please note: no patio umbrella should remain open during storms or high winds. Closing the umbrella when not in use is the best way to maximize its lifespan.
