Re-envisioned in 2019 for outdoor use, the original CHARLOTTENBORG ARMCHAIR designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1936 now greets the world ready for its harshest elements.
The original design was first called the AJ 237 cane chair and took the name of Charlottenborg Castle in Copenhagen while it was on display there in 1937 at the Spring exhibition. Until now, all models have been made with fine rattan suitable for indoor use only. Now its being introduced by SIKA Designs fabricated with durable weather resistant materials. The sensuous curves of its frame are fabricated of painted Aluminum with touches of woven Art-Fibre(polyethylene) hand woven by highly skilled weavers.
With an appearance of a sculptural item, the Charlottenborg lounge chair has the curved and refined lines that will forever be the trademark of the avant-garde designer Arne Jacobsen.
